AANIKA’S ELEPHANTS – A PLAY ABOUT LOVE, COMPASSION & CONSERVATION
Adventure into the African savanna with Aanika, a Kenyan girl who befriends a baby elephant she names Little. Their bond of sisterhood shows that a family can be anything—an animal sanctuary, a herd of hunted elephants, an orphaned girl and calf. From a team of acclaimed Sesame Street writers and puppeteers, the stirring story of Aanika’s Elephants entertains and educates on the present-day plight of Africa’s elephants.
Running time: 60 minutes
Age range: 6+

Martin P. Robinson
Annie Evans and Martin P. Robinson have been collaborating in both art and life since 1992. They first met at the O’Neill Theatre Center’s National Puppetry Conference where Annie was assigned as a performer (and later as a dramaturg, he needed script help!) for Martin’s first adult puppet show, JACKSTRAWS IN A WIND TUNNEL.
That fall, Martin passed Annie’s writing on to then Sesame Street head writer Norman Stiles. Annie joined the show and they ended up working together for the next 23 years with Annie doing her best to write as much as possible for Martin’s characters Telly, Snuffy, Slimey and others.
Annie and Martin created the puppet play PIGEONHOLDED for the National Puppetry Conference and Annie helped produce ALL HALLOWS EVE which Martin wrote and directed along with music by Paul Rudolph at the New York City’s Connelly Theatre in 2019.
Annie and Martin were married in 2008 on the set of Sesame Street and they had twins Lyra and Ripley the next year. They continue to creatively parent, attempt to run a household and proof read each other’s work on a daily basis.
